Hello, and Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening (time-zone dependent).
(A little about me). My name is Yrume (ee-ru-may). I started my journey in information technology and cybersecurity a little over 30 years ago when I joined military service. Looking back, it seems that I was always meant to take this path, even if I didn’t know it then. As a kid I always gravitated towards technology, home computers, game consoles, anything I could get my hands on. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t stay indoors all the time on computers (like my first computer, the Adam) or gaming platforms (including Atari, Coleco vision and Sega Genesis, to name a few). Like any other kid of the time, I was out riding bikes, playing tag / manhunt throughout the neighborhood, or just plain having fun with friends (which at the time were more like brothers than anything). Little did I know that at the age of seventeen I would decide to enlist in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist. It’s been a long path, from that young and naïve seventeen year old, to where I find myself today (just a few years shy of 50).
Today I am a Senior Technical Advisor / Consultant of cybersecurity at an organization which manages one of the largest networks in the world. I’m still amazed on how much there still is to learn within this domain. This site is my attempt to help others by discussing not only what I did right throughout my path, but also some of the things that didn’t exactly go as planned, in hopes that some may get value from my experiences.
Once again, Hello,
